The solderless connector setup includes a circuit board loaded with all the favourite USA grade electronics (Switchcraft jack, Switchcraft switch, CTS potentiometers, Orange drop capacitor). This circuit board simply drops into your Gibson style control layout, then you plug in the connectors we've added to the end of the pickup leads into the circuit board. The humbucker setup comes with default 500k potentiometers, 3 way toggle switch and 0.022uf capacitors.

These are available in both import (long shaft pots, short frame switch), USA (long shaft pots, long frame switch), or right angle (short shaft pots, right angle toggle switch) formats. (ONLY) Gibson Les Pauls will use USA. Epiphones and other import models will use the import format. SGs and similar will use the right angle format. Import models Les Pauls typically use short shaft potentiometers, but we've found through experimentation that due to the nature of the way that the pots are seated at different heights in the cavity, short shaft pots will not work effectively. Long shaft pots are used by shimming the shaft to the correct length with the second nut inside the cavity.

No soldering is required at all, making the installation take about 10 minutes!

Our Murky Horizon P90 in a humbucker sized package.

A pickup set with one aim in mind: alleviate the typical P90 set issue of a flabby neck and a thin bridge.

P90 necks can sound beautiful when wound to a nice clean vintage spec, but usually mixed with similarly specced bridges, they are comparatively too fat. Switching between the two pickups creates a horrid EQ imbalance that makes it near impossible to find a good amp / pedal setting that will work for both, and if you do find some sort of middle ground - it's exactly that, a compromise of your tone.

This set was built around a nice, clean, and clear neck pickup. The goal was to create a bridge that would match well with it, by creating a bridge with fatter than typical tone, but to retain clarity like the neck. The neck was wound modestly, to retain the beautiful vintage P90 neck tone. The bridge is fatter as a result of a special winding pattern and slight overwinding. When the two were paired together, the Murky Horizon set was born. The neck chimes whilst the bridge growls and stings, but easing up on the volume will make it become a beautifully articulate piece. The aim was to fatten up a standard P90 bridge without making it ...murky.... and the Murky Horizon bridge is the fruit of that labour.
